Buon Natale! Always an audience favorite, Welcome Christmas never fails to rouse the spirit of the holidays with its distinctive and endearing music. This year we open the concert with music of Italians and Italian Americans:  Gian-Carlo Menotti (music from Amahl and the Night Visitors), Dominick Argento (music from The Masque of Angels) and the Ensemble Singers performing Ottorino Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity, evoking images of soft hay, the warm breath of sleeping sheep and the loving gaze of a new mother holding her baby.

Then enjoy your favorite carols from around the world — Carol of the Bells, Ave Maria, I Saw Three Ships, The Holly and the Ivy and Fum, Fum, Fum — in delightful arrangements. The Twin Cities’ favorite soprano, Maria Jette, will join in the merriment and the audience will have a chance to harmonize on a few sing-along carols.
