Eric Whitacre Extravaganza - SOLD OUT!

March 22, 2009

The Eric Whitacre Extravaganza is SOLD OUT. Due to overwhelming demand, the final rehearsal for the Eric Whitacre Extravaganza performance will be open to the public.

The London Times calls his music "extraordinarily beautiful." Classics Today says it is as "electrifying as anything you've ever heard." Young singers agree that Eric Whitacre is the hottest thing in choral music-his music has been played over a million times on MySpace. Eric Whitacre conducts the VocalEssence Chorus and Ensemble Singers, joined by the St. Olaf Choir and the 160-voice Minnesota Honors Choir, including a world premiere composed for this occasion.

3-19-09: Classical Minnesota Public Radio's John Birge talked with Eric Whitacre about his new world-premiere piece "Nox Aurumque," how Whitacre is energized by working with young students, and how Whitacre made the teenage transition from '80s hair band to choral superstar.

Listen to Minnesota Public Radio host John Birge and conductor Philip Brunelle as they discuss Eric's music, including samples of his music performed by the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers
