For centuries, the music of the Russian Orthodox Church was heard only in church ceremonies. For decades it was suppressed by the Soviet government. But since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Patriarchate Choir of Moscow has brought music that has lain in obscurity for centuries to a wider public around the world.

Founded in 1983, the Russian Patriarchate Choir is comprised of 12 men’s voices, dedicated to the repertoire for male voices of ancient Orthodox church music. They will sing this ancient sacred music and traditional folk songs with the depth and emotion that can only come from the extraordinary technical mastery of a Russian men’s choir.
VocalEssence is proud to present this acclaimed choir in concert in the jewel-like setting of Basilica of Saint Mary, evoking the majesty and iconography of a Russian Cathedral with its perfect acoustic as the men’s haunting voices fill the air.
