Jorge Córdoba

A native of Mexico City, Jorge Córdoba has gained prominence as a composer and conductor, performing throughout his homeland, as well as Spain, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Hungary and the U.S.A. He has served as Artistic Director for several well-known choirs, receiving numerous prizes for his musical activities.

To commemorate the Mexican Bicentennial, VocalEssence has commissioned composer Jorge Córdoba to write a new piece for chorus and marimba as part of the subscription concert Mallets & Melodies. He is also writing music for the VocalEssence Chorus & Ensemble Singers to perform on the ¡Cantaré! Community Concert on May 25, 2010 (7:00 pm) at Basilica of Saint Mary.
