Mexican Serenade - VocalEssence Gala 2010

Saturday, April 24, 2010

On April 24, 2010, A Mexican Serenade will bring over 600 prominent local leaders, celebrities, business owners and community members to The Historic Milwaukee Depot in downtown Minneapolis. Our guests will spend the evening browsing our unique and exciting silent auction, enjoy delectable Mexican cuisine and view a spectacular program and Live Auction! The highlight of the evening will be a performance by our special guest artists, Marimba Nandayapa, from Mexico.

Proceeds from the Gala benefit VocalEssence Community Engagement Programs. VocalEssence WITNESS teaching artists and ¡Cantaré! composers make 200 classroom visits each school year, benefitting over 7,000 students throughout the metropolitan area.

  • WITNESS is one of the nation's premier initiatives celebrating the contributions of African Americans to our shared American heritage through concerts, recordings and comprehensive educational programs.
  • ¡Cantaré! actively engages VocalEssence audiences and the wider community in the discovery, celebration and creation of music from Mexican traditions of the past and present.
