James Ramlet

Bass James Ramlet has performed more than 40 operatic roles with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Vienna State Opera, Washington National Opera, and many others. He was featured on the PBS Great Performances series in Samuel Barber’s Antony and Cleopatra produced by the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

An accomplished stage actor, James performs regularly at the Guthrie Theater including roles in 1776, the world premiere of Little House on the Prairie, the North American premiere of The Home Place, and most recently as “The Ghost of Christmas Present” in A Christmas Carol.  James has also appeared on the concert stage with the Minnesota Orchestra, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Symphony.

 He is featured on Deutsche Gramophone recordings of La Boheme and A Quiet Place, conducted by Leonard Bernstein, as well as numerous recordings with VocalEssence and the Dale Warland Singers.  James has performed for the past nine seasons as a member of the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers.
