Peter Halverson

Peter Halverson has been a member of the Concordia College music faculty since 1983. He holds degrees from Concordia College and the University of Wisconsin. He trained professionally at the Santa Fe Opera, Minnesota Opera and San Francisco Opera and toured nationally with the Western Opera Theater. He has maintained an active professional career, performing throughout the United States on the dramatic stage and in concert, including frequent performances with the Minnesota Opera, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Orchestra. Peter has also appeared at the Kennedy Center Mozart Festival, the Oregon Bach Festival and the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival. Recent work includes Einojuhani Rautavaara's Aleksis Kivi, Glenn Paxton's Monticello and Cary Franklin's Loss of Eden, which was co-commissioned by VocalEssence and Opera Theater of Saint Louis. Peter recently recorded a CD titled “American Portrait: From the Parlor to the Stage,” in which he explores modern-day America by interpreting the songs of its past. Previous appearances with VocalEssence include Loss of Eden (2002) and Bach 2000 (2000).
