The Singers - Minnesota Choral Artists
Founded in 2004, The Singers—Minnesota Choral Artists presents exciting and innovative concert programming that connects music from the past with wonderful new works by today's composers.
Anchored in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, The Singers also presents concerts throughout Minnesota and the Midwest. Believing in the importance of music education, collaborative concerts with school-aged choirs are included in each season's calendar.
Founding Artistic Director Matthew Culloton's commitment to new music has led to twenty-eight premieres in the first three seasons of music-making. Composers Abbie Betinis, Jocelyn Hagen, and Joshua Shank are "in residence" as members of the choir. Their new works are highlights for concertgoers each season.
In 2006, The Singers performed for the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota Fall Convention, marking their first performance for an ACDA audience. Earlier in 2006, the choir performed for the National Federation of Music Clubs convention. The concert highlighted the choral music of Stephen Paulus and inspired the newest recording, Splendid Jewel: Choral Music of Stephen Paulus, released in March 2007.
