Alliance Française honors Philip Brunelle

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (April 7, 2010) -- The Alliance Française de Minneapolis and St. Paul is honoring two Minnesotans for their dedication to promoting French language and culture with the prestigious Médaillons de l’Alliance Française. The Award of Excellence will be given to Philip Brunelle, internationally renowned artistic director of VocalEssence, for featuring no less than 19 French composers in his repertoire. Brunelle has staged concerts entirely devoted to French music – the Musique de France series – and even led a three-day marathon of all the vocal works of Francis Poulenc.

Openings are available in all voice parts for the 100-voice volunteer VocalEssence Chorus and the 32-voice professional VocalEssence Ensemble Singers.

Philip Brunelle named "Local Legend" by General Mills, United Negro College Fund

(January 25, 2010) – VocalEssence Founder and Artistic Director Philip Brunelle was recently honored with a “Local Legend” award at the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast. The sold-out event – hosted by the United Negro College Fund and the General Mills Foundation – was held on Monday, January 18 at the Minneapolis Convention Center and featured the Rev.
