2016-2017 Partner Schools

Three high schools, three elementary schools and one college choir will participate in the ¡Cantaré! residencies and community concert. The program instills cultural pride in students of Latino heritage while also bringing a greater appreciation of Mexican music to others.

The 2016-2017 elementary schools include:

  • Adams Spanish Immersion School, Saint Paul (53% Latino, 24% White, 21% Black, 2% American Indian)
  • Meadow Lake Elementary School, New Hope (48.6% Black, 22.4% Latino, 20.8% White, 6.5% Asian)
  • Richard R. Green Central Park School, Minneapolis (65% Latino, 22% African American, 6% White, 4% American Indian)

The 2016-2017 high schools and college include:

  • Highland Park Senior High School (40% White, 23% African American and African Immigrant, 17% Latino, 17% Asian)
  • Irondale High School, New Brighton (59.8% White, 17.5% Black, 11.4% Latino, 9.8% Asian, 1.5% American Indian)
  • Washburn High School, Minneapolis (50.6% White, 23.2% Black, 20.2% Latino, 4.4% Asian, 1.6% American Indian)
  • University of Minnesota Women’s Chorus, Minneapolis (65.1% White, 13.1% International, 9.5% Asian, 5.6% Black, 3.9% Latino)
