DESCRIPTION:Online ticket sales for this event are now closed. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the event beginning at 3:30 pm.\nStep into the past to support the future of choral music education programs at VocalEssence. Join the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers and guest artist Don Shelby as Mark Twain on the historic Minnesota Centennial Showboat for a celebration of the river. Sip cocktails and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres on the Victorian deck and enter a raffle to win fabulous prizes\, then head to the auditorium where Mark Twain and the Ensemble Singers will take listeners on a musical journey of the past and present—choral masterpieces\, favorite folksongs\, traditional spirituals\, and Americana. \nVocalEssence Ensemble Singers\nDon Shelby\, actor\nTesfa Wondemagegnehu\, conductor\nJon Cranney\, director \nAll proceeds from this event benefit the VocalEssence Community Engagement Programs\, ¡Cantaré! and WITNESS. \nMatinee Performance Schedule:\n3:30-4:30 pm – Cocktails & hors d’oeuvres\n4:30-6:00 pm – Performance \n(For details on the evening performance\, please visit the evening performance event page.) \nSpecial Thanks\n               \nIMPORTANT DRIVING & PARKING INFO\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Padelford Riverboats and the Centennial Showboat both are located on Harriet Island\, but are on different sides of the park and have separate parking lots. The difference in directions is so minor that a few of our passengers end up in the wrong place. Please keep this in mind and read the directions carefully. \nPLEASE NOTE: There are two road closures that may affect your travel. Kellogg Blvd. is closed between Market and Wabasha streets\, and southbound Wabasha Street Bridge (from Kellogg to Fillmore Ave.) is closed. Please plan to cross from downtown St. Paul via the Robert Street Bridge or use other routes. \n\n\n\n\nDriving Directions:\n\n\nFROM DOWNTOWN ST. PAUL\nCross the Robert Street Bridge. Take right onto Fillmore Ave. (stoplight). Then\, take a right onto Harriet Island Road (just after train crossing). Follow Levee until it ends at the Showboat parking lot. \nFROM THE NORTH (Anoka\, New Brighton\, Roseville\, White Bear Lake\, etc.)\nTake I-694 East to I-35E South to HWY 52 South. Take the Eaton St. exit and follow the Detour to Plato Blvd. Take a left on Plato. Follow Plato to Wabasha St. Turn right onto Wabasha. Take Wabasha to Water/Fillmore (stoplight before bridge). Turn right onto Fillmore Ave. and take first left onto Harriet Island Road. Follow road until it ends at the Showboat parking lot. \nFROM THE WEST (Minneapolis\, etc.)\nTake I-94 East to 5th St. exit\, go straight. Follow 5th St. to Robert St. Turn right on Robert St. Take Robert to cross river to Fillmore Ave. (stoplight after bridge). Turn right onto Fillmore Ave. and take a right onto Harriet Island Road. Follow Harriet Island Road until it ends at the Showboat parking lot. \nFROM THE SOUTHWEST (Burnsville\, Eagan\, Apple Valley\, etc.)\nTake I-35E north to I-494 East\, then Hwy. 52 North. Take the Plato Blvd. exit. Turn left onto Plato. Turn right on Wabasha St. Turn right onto Water/Fillmore (stoplight before bridge) and take first left onto Harriet Island Road. Follow road until it ends at the Showboat parking lot. \nFROM THE EAST (Wisconsin\, Oakdale\, Stillwater\, Woodbury\, etc.)\nTake I-94 West to Hwy. 52 South.
