SUMMARY:CONCERT: Four Saints in Three Acts
DESCRIPTION:Called “ebullient\, grand and unusual” and “a high camp masterpiece” by critics\, Four Saints in Three Acts changed American opera when it premiered in 1934. Set in 16th-century Spain\, the playfully humorous Four Saints traces the lives of saints on Earth through a witty libretto by Gertrude Stein and a stunning score by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Virgil Thomson. Collaborating with director/choreographer Carl Flink and his award-winning Black Label Movement\, VocalEssence takes up the challenge of this path-breaking and distinctly American opera to re-imagine it for the Goodale Theater in the Cowles Center for Dance & the Performing Arts. This wildly inventive masterwork will leave you with a smile on your face. \nVocalEssence Ensemble Singers\nBlack Label Movement\nPhilip Brunelle\, conductor\nCarl Flink\, director/choreographer\nPaul Herwig\, set designer\nMarcus Dilliard\, lighting designer \nA fee of $4.00 per ticket is included in listed prices. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdXWDz7J6F4&feature=youtu.be \nConcert Program Book\n \nSponsor\n \nSeason Sponsors
