SUMMARY:BROADCAST: Dreams of the Fallen: Coming Home
DESCRIPTION:“Dreams of the Fallen: Coming Home” is a musical tribute to the men and women we honor each Veterans Day. Hosted by Steve Seel\, the special’s centerpiece is the short masterwork of the same title by young American composer Jake Runestad. The work sets the poetry of Iraq war veteran Brian Turner\, and features pianist Jeffrey Biegel\, the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra\, and VocalEssence. \nRunestad’s and Turner’s works combine in this deeply moving exploration of experiences familiar to many veterans: returning home from war. The hour-long special includes music performed by\, or related to\, the armed forces veterans once served\, and features music that emerged out of numerous American conflicts\, including the Civil War\, World Wars I and II\, Iraq\, and Vietnam. \nThe special will air on Classical Minnesota Public Radio on Saturday\, November 11\, 2017 from 7-8 PM\, and will air around the country in various locations. Check your local listings to hear the special\, or listen online by clicking this link.
