Classical: VocalEssence
Tuesday: Local choral powerhouse VocalEssence is making an
annual tradition of bringing new choral music by Mexican composers to
Twin Cities audiences … and to local schools, where the composers
create works with children and teenagers that are premiered at
VocalEssence’s “Cantare” concert at the Ordway Center. You can hear the
handiwork of Mexican composers Jose Galvan Castaneda and Pamela Mayorga
Tellez performed by members of VocalEssence and choirs from six schools
and Minneapolis’ Latino Children’s Choir. 7 p.m.; Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, 345 Washington St., St. Paul; free; 651-224-4222 or vocalessence.org.
