Advocacy for Singing Together

Raise Your Voice for Singing Together

Did you know that 10 years ago, the state of Minnesota had almost 30% more music teachers than it has today?

Our shared love of singing together is in danger of becoming obsolete. The growing scarcity of music in our schools will very likely have a negative impact on the future of our potential audiences and also the number of future skilled choir members. If children do not have experience singing together, why would it become part of their later adult lives?

Because of this alarming fact shared by MMEA (Minnesota Music Education Association) in 2011, VocalEssence has decided to take an active role in advocating for singing together. Join us in our advocacy efforts and raise your voice for singing.

Be Present: Attend VocalEssence concerts and invite your friends to support the music of today. Bring your children and grandchildren to our family-friendly Star of Wonder and VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Community Concert.

Lift Up Your Voice: Go to your school district’s board meetings and tell board members how much you value their music program and VocalEssence school partnerships.

Give for the Future: Your financial support today for educational offerings such as VocalEssence WITNESS and VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! makes it possible for us to cultivate the musicians of tomorrow.

Join Minnesota Citizens for the Arts: They provide simple ways you can connect with your legislators regarding important arts issues facing Minnesota.
