VocalEssence ReMix encourages break-out musical artists—whether you sing in a rock band or play classical music—to write for voice.
About the Program
VocalEssence ReMix offers two talented, emerging composers/songwriters the opportunity to have a nine-month one-on-one composer mentorship as they each write two choral works, suitable for an intergenerational choir comprised of: an octet of professional singers, high school students, and senior adults. Completed works may be for voices with or without instruments, which may include acoustic, amplified, western, world, electronics, or even turntables! Singers from VocalEssence ensembles will premiere works during the 2018-19 season. Through this program, VocalEssence ReMix encourages the creation of innovative works in a wide range of styles, while providing the artists with:
- a mentorship with renowned composers Libby Larsen, Carol Barnett, J. David Moore or Timothy Takach
- a performance by the professional VocalEssence Ensemble Singers
- access to an audience who may want to perform your music
- possible publication through VocalEssence Music Press
Complete the online application. Applications for the 2018-2019 VocalEssence ReMix Program are due on May 15, 2018.
