Volunteer opportunities abound! From ushering at our concerts to assisting with special projects throughout the year in our office, VocalEssence is grateful for the talents and support of our many volunteers.

We are always seeking volunteers to assist with our community engagement programs, the biennial Gala, concerts, and general administrative duties.

Volunteer Perks Program

As a new benefit to our volunteers, we are trying out a new Volunteer Perks Program. When a volunteer has reached a goal of 20 volunteer hours in the 2009-2010 concert season (September 2009-May 2010), he or she will earn two free concert tickets to a 2010-2011 VocalEssence Season Concert!*

Mission

The VocalEssence Volunteer Program introduces and engages people of all ages in the concerts and programs of VocalEssence while helping to support the musicians, staff and mission of VocalEssence.

The VocalEssence Volunteer Program provides a vital link between VocalEssence and the community to create meaningful learning and musical experiences through volunteering, providing opportunities to recognize individuals for their important volunteer contributions.

Other potential benefits include free attendance at a concert or event, VocalEssence merchandise and discounts!

Many companies in the Twin Cities encourage their employees to volunteer at local organizations by offering volunteer programs, awards or incentives to employees who volunteer! Please ask your Human Resources Department at your office if they offer a volunteer program or incentives.

Why Volunteer

"On the national level, 60.8 million or 26.2 percent of Americans age 16 and older volunteered through organizations in 2007," according to the Volunteering in America report released by the Corporation for National and Community Service, and Minneapolis-St. Paul is ranked number one among large cities with a 39.3 % volunteer rate!

Make your time valuable: In a typical week, volunteers spend approximately 15 hours watching television, compared to 23 hours for non-volunteers. Nearly 61 million Americans volunteered in their communities in 2007 giving 8.1 billion hours of service worth more than $158 billion to America’s communities!

*Certain restrictions may apply. Limit two tickets per volunteer. VocalEssence reserves the right to choose eligible concerts from the 2010-2011 VocalEssence concert season, to be announced by the start of the 2010-2011 Concert Season. VocalEssence chorus members are eligible, however rehearsal time does not count towards Volunteer Perks Program hours.
