23 January: King's College, Cambridge

King's College, CambridgeThe Ensemble Singers will sing in one of the most famous churches in the world on 23 January — The Chapel of King's College, Cambridge — as part of the "Music at King's" series at the invitation of Stephen Cleobury, director of the King's College Choir.

Shaped in a narrow rectangle, the Chapel of King's College is 289 feet long and 40 feet wide. The interior height rises 80 feet and features the world's largest fan vaulting. The stained glass windows are some of the finest in England from their era, having survived the Reformation and World War II. A splendid woodwork screen, dating from 1533-36, bears the initials of Henry VIII and his current queen Anne Boleyn.

Noted for its splendid acoustics, the Chapel is actively used today as a place of worship and also for concerts and college events.
