Singers welcome at VocalEssence “Community Sings”

Sing with Vocalessence— no audition required!

Advance registration for this event is now closed. On-site registration will open at 1:30pm on Sunday, November 13th. We look forward to seeing you there!

This fall, VocalEssence is offering two “Community Sings” where the public is invited to sing in a casual setting with conductors Sigrid Johnson and Philip Brunelle. Community Sings offer a friendly atmosphere for choral singers to gather and learn more about the music that VocalEssence performs. The $15 registration fee includes all sheet music.

“Songs of the North Star State”
Community Sing with VocalEssence Artistic Director Philip Brunelle
Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 2-3:30 PM
Guild Hall, Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis

Sing
with VocalEssence Artistic Director Philip Brunelle as he leads an
evening of American choral music inspired by the Ensemble Singers’
recent statewide tour, including Aaron Copland’s At the River, Nathaniel Dett’s Ave Maria, and Truman Rickard’s Hail Minnesota.

“Music for Women’s Voices”
Community Sing with VocalEssence Associate Conductor Sigrid Johnson
This event took place on Friday, October 7, 2011
Guild Hall, Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis

To celebrate Sigrid Johnson’s 20th anniversary as VocalEssence Associate Conductor and to highlight her leadership in directing women’s voices at St. Olaf College, we invite you to participate in a Community Sing inspired by music for women’s choirs. Sing with Sigrid as she leads an evening of exceptional choral music, including Mendelssohn’s Lift Thine Eyes, Rutter’s Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day, and Stanford’s Beati quorum via.

Community sing participants will receive a coupon code when they register to save $5 on tickets to the VocalEssence The Gift of Fire performance on October 9, where Sigrid will conduct Gustav Holst’s magnificent Hymn of Jesus.
