Press Release

(6-9-2008) Warren Beck, Bruce Becker and Peter Spink join VocalEssence board of directors

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (June 9, 2008) — VocalEssence, the Minneapolis-based non-profit choral ensemble, is very pleased to announce the election of three new members to its board of directors. They were elected at the quarterly board meeting on May 19, 2008 to serve three-year terms beginning in July.

Warren Beck, who was recently recognized at the VocalEssence Spring Gala as an honorary gala chair, previously served on the VocalEssence board of directors from 1989-2008. He has been president of Gabbert & Beck, Inc. since 1985, best known as the developer of Galleria in Edina as well as the new hotel/condominium project, Westin Edina Galleria. Warren is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Bruce Becker is an award-winning choral music conductor and composer with a long history of service in the Minnesota choral community. The director of Apple Valley High School Choral Music Activities from 1986-2007, he now serves School District 196 as a Peer Leader, supervising, mentoring and collaborating with adult educators across all grade levels and curricular departments. Bruce holds a M.A. in music curriculum and instruction from the University of St. Thomas and a B.A. in vocal music instruction from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Global Human Resources Director of FSI International, Peter Spink brings his considerable expertise in corporate management to the VocalEssence board. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational development and compensation issues. A summa cum laude graduate in economics from Macalester College, he holds a master’s degree in industrial relations from the University of Minnesota.

"The differing backgrounds of these three new board members will be an asset to VocalEssence going forward," stated VocalEssence Managing Director Mary Ann Pulk. "We are grateful for their willingness to serve."
