VocalEssence ChorusVocalEssence ChorusVocalEssence Chorus Minneapolis (Thursday, May 3, 2007) – A season of musical enchantment and inspiration is planned by artistic director Philip Brunelle for 2007–2008, as he leads the 130-voice VocalEssence Chorus and 32-voice VocalEssence Ensemble Singers in six season and three community concerts.

Season highlights include an appearance with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, a semi-staged Broadway musical (The Most Happy Fella), and a rare performance of Duke Ellington’s Second Sacred Concert at this year’s WITNESS concert.

VocalEssence will present the Russian Patriarchate Choir of Moscow in concert at Basilica of Saint Mary in November. The annual Welcome Christmas! concerts will feature a world premiere by Conrad Susa and new contest-winning carols for chorus and celesta. The season wraps up with The Joy of Spring, an afternoon of spring songs at The Fitzgerald Theater featuring special guest Maureen McGovern.

VocalEssence Season Concerts always include reserved seating for adults and students in some of the region’s leading venues, such as Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Basilica of Saint Mary and Ted Mann Concert Hall. But this year, in the spirit of community engagement, three community concerts will be held that are open to all ages and seated by general admission. These will include Star of Wonder, a family-friendly Christmas concert; WITNESS Community Concert at Hopkins High School Auditorium; and A Slice of Americana, a concert by the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stillwater in May 2008.

Season tickets will be on sale by phone beginning on May 14, 2007. To order, call 612-624-2345 or download the season ticket order form from the VocalEssence website. Single tickets will go on sale through a variety of box offices beginning in August.

A listing of all the concert information and dates, times and places for the 2007-2008 is posted on the VocalEssence website under "calendar." For additional press information and photographs, please contact Katryn Conlin, 612-547-1459 or kconlin@vocalessence.org.
